Contemporary Serbian plays translated into Romanian

The anthology of contemporary Serbian drama has been published, bringing together four acclaimed playwrights selected by theatre critic Slobodan Savić. Translated by Vesna Stepanov Roșca, the book was presented at the TESZT 2026 Festival, where play The Loneliest Whale in the World by Tijana Grumić was presented as a staged reading.

BEST DRAMATIC ADAPTATION AWARD AT THE 20th ZVEZDARIŠTE THEATRE FESTIVAL

The Expert Jury of the 20th Zvezdarište Children’s Theatre Festival, consisting of director Anđelka Nikolić, actor Daniel Sič, and playwright and dramaturge Isidora Milosavljević, at its meeting held on 20 May 2026, decided to award the Best Dramatic Adaptation Award to Tijana Grumić for the production ON THE CEILING THE STARS ARE SHINING.

Tijana Grumić Among the Winners of the International Playwriting Project Shadow Pandemic: Hidden Voices

Upon consideration of coded (anonymised) scripts, the jury of the theatre project ”Shadow Pandemic: Hidden Voices” has awarded the following three new and unpublished plays: Kristina Kegljen – POD SUKNJOM (UNDER THE SKIRT); Katja Gorečan – AKTIVISTKE (THE ACTIVISTS) and Tijana Grumić – SVET ZASLUŽUJE KRAJ SVETA (THE WORLD DESERVES THE END OF THE WORLD).

This expert jury consisted of the following members: Vilma Štritof (Maribor Theatre Festival), Rok Andres (Maribor Theatre Festival), Biljana Srbljanović (Belgrade Drama Theatre), Tanja Šljivar (Belgrade Drama Theatre), Tomislav Zajec (Zagreb Youth Theatre), Selma Spahić (Zagreb Youth Theatre), and Ivana Vuković (project dramaturge).

WHO KILLED JANIS JOPLIN? @ FAST FORWARD FESTIVAL IN DRESDEN, 2022

Tijana Grumić’s Who Killed Janis Joplin? directed by Sonja Petrović at the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad was presented at the prestigious Fast Forward European Festival for Young Stage Directors in Dresden, one of Europe’s leading platforms for emerging theatre-makers.

SPECIAL AWARD FROM THE ROYAL DISTRICT THEATRE IN TBILISI, GEORGIA @ AURORA, THE CITY OF BYDGOSZCZ DRAMA AWARD

The jury composed of: Davit Gabunia, Julia Holewińska, Agnieszka Lubomira Piotrowska, having read 288 works from 16 countries decided to select 5 that will qualify for the final of Aurora. Among them was the play I HAVE NEVER SEEN THE STARS by Tijana Grumić, which was awarded the Special Award, while Mikita Ilyinchyk from Belarus was the winner of 2021 Aurora with his play Dark Room. The AURORA 2021 Chapter chaired by Swiatłana Aleksijewicz, was also composed of Davit Gabunia, Marius Ivaskiewicus, Julia Holewińska and Agnieszka Lubomira Piotrowska.

Tijana Grumić Receives the Mihiz Award for Overall Dramatic Oeuvre

The jury, composed of theatre critic Darinka Nikolić, director Ksenija Krnajski, and theatre scholar Svetislav Jovanov (chair of the jury), unanimously decided at its meeting on 1 October 2018 to award the Borislav Mihajlović Mihiz Award for Overall Dramatic Oeuvre to Belgrade-based playwright Tijana Grumić in recognition of her body of work to date.
